Rumors Swirl Around Apple's iPhone 16 And 17 Models: What To Expect

The iPhone 16 series is anticipated to debut in September 2024, with Apple potentially releasing more than four models this year. Rumors suggest the introduction of iPhone 16 SE and SE Plus models, alongside reports hinting at an iPhone 17 Slim variant for the following year.

However, it's still uncertain if Apple is truly exploring new model variations, as it has with the mini and Plus versions in the past. While we await official confirmation on Apple's plans, it is expected that the standard iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models will be unveiled this year. Here’s what the leaks reveal about the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models.

iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Leaks: Specs, Design , Features, and More

The iPhone 16 Pro models are rumored to feature a no-button design, incorporating capacitive buttons that provide haptic feedback. These buttons will detect pressure and simulate the sensation of pressing a physical button through vibrations generated by Taptic Engine motors. Additionally, there might be a dedicated button for quick video capture, offering enhanced convenience for users. The Action button, previously exclusive to Pro models, could become standard across the iPhone 16 series. The punch-hole design is expected to continue, and the USB Type-C port will likely be retained, similar to the iPhone 15 series.

The Pro models are rumored to have larger displays, with the iPhone 16 Pro sporting a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max featuring a 6.9-inch screen. These larger displays promise an improved viewing and gaming experience but could make one-handed use more difficult. Thinner bezels might enhance the overall experience. Internally, the Pro models are expected to be powered by next-generation A18 Pro chipsets. Both versions are likely to include larger batteries, with the Pro Max potentially boasting a 4,676mAh battery, though specifics for the Pro model's battery are not yet known.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max might come with a super telephoto periscope lens offering a higher optical zoom range, perfect for capturing distant subjects such as sports or wildlife. The iPhone 16 Pro could adopt the 5x optical zoom capability from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, utilizing Apple’s tetraprism lens system to provide superior zoom quality without sacrificing image clarity.

Apple is also reportedly working on advanced anti-reflective coating technology to minimize artifacts like lens flare and ghosting, thereby enhancing overall image quality. The Pro models may receive an upgraded 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens, which would improve clarity and detail, especially in low-light conditions. This upgrade could support 48-megapixel ProRAW photos in Ultra Wide mode, allowing for more detailed images that are easier to edit.
