Simple Steps To Check All Mobile Numbers Registered Under Your Name

The Ministry of Communications is preparing to implement a new telecom act that will soon come into effect. This legislation will restrict individuals to possessing no more than nine SIM cards . If a person exceeds this limit, they could face significant penalties, including fines of up to Rs 2 lakh and potential imprisonment for up to three years.

Even if you believe you only have one SIM card, you might not be safe from these regulations. In today's technologically advanced world, obtaining SIM cards often requires an Aadhaar card , and there is a risk that someone could misuse your Aadhaar number to obtain a SIM card in your name without your knowledge.

Additionally, discarded SIM cards can sometimes be picked up and used by others without the owner's awareness. Given these risks, it is crucial for everyone to verify how many SIM cards are registered under their name and UID number. To facilitate this, the Ministry of Communications has introduced a new service to help individuals check the number of SIM cards registered to their names.

How to Verify Your SIM Cards:

  • Visit the Website: Go to https://tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in/telecomUser/
  • Enter Details: Input your current mobile number and the captcha displayed on the page.
  • Receive OTP: After submitting these details, you will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on the entered mobile number.
  • Check SIM Cards: Enter the received OTP in the designated space below the 'validate captcha' button to see how many SIM cards are registered to your name.

If you identify any mobile numbers that do not belong to you, you can report them by selecting the 'not my number' option. These numbers will be deactivated based on your report. Similarly, if there is a number you no longer use, you can choose the 'not required' option to deactivate it. The Department of Telecommunications will verify all reports before deactivating the numbers.
