fans were all left scratching their heads after a surprise guest made a special appearance on the show.

On Friday night (November 15), BBC viewers saw Ade Adepitan, Mel Giedroyc, Rochelle Humes, Vernon Kay, Chris Ramsey and Lenny rush take to the stage to present this year's Children in Need.

The 2024 hosts were on-hand to oversee the three-hour special which featured hilarious sketches and star-studded performances throughout the night.

Joining in with the spirit of giving was Strictly Come Dancing who dazzled viewers with a professional group number - but this routine featured a familiar face.

Taking to the dancefloor alongside the professionals was none other than children's favourite Bluey. Bluey is the main character from the animated children's show which follows the life of a lovable and inexhaustible six-year-old puppy and all her wild antics with her little sister Bingo.

However, some viewers were less than impressed with the new addition to the dancing line-up as they flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their frustrations online.

One user fumed: "Ffs an annimated kids character dancing on #childreninneed ... really scrapping the barrell this year already! [four eye-rolling emojis]."

Another agreed: "A cartoon dog? Oh dear, could they not get an actual person for the #childreninneed #strictly dance?" A third asked: "Why has Bluey just done a more competent dance than Pete Wicks has managed in two months #ChildreninNeed #Strictly."

A fourt chuckled: "The judges would still mark Bluey down in favour of Wynne #ChildreninNeed #bbcchildreninneed #strictly" as a fifth echoed: "I want to see Bluey get to the final #strictly #childreninneed."

But the complaints didn't end there. Many viewers flooded to social media to share how unimpressed they were with the excessive number of presenters hosting the show.

One user penned: "I love them all but surely they only need two hosts at the most?!" as another agreed: "6 presenters. Really????? #childreninneed."

A third echoed: "Haven't watched #childreninneed for years ... turned it on, and why on earth are there 6 presenters? Just carnage and only 7 minutes in."

However, some were left confused over the three-hour slot as some viewers highlighted the time change over the years. One viewer noted: "Does anyone remember when shows such as #ChildrenInNeed used to go on until 1am?"

Someone else tweeted: "Why are there so many hosts though? I get having that many when Children in Need went on until like 2am like the old days but now? There are only 3 hours you only need like 3 or 4 of them #childreninneed."

Children in Need is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
