13-Year-Old Indian Player Set To Create History, Will Go Under The Hammer In IPL 2025 Mega Auction
The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction will create history as a 13-year-old player will go under the hammer in Jeddah in the big event scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah on November 24 and 25, with 204 players set to be sold. Bihar's Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been named in the list of 574 that have been shortlisted for the 2025 auction. The left-handed batter is listed as the 492nd player in the list and will come up for purchase in the 9th uncapped batter list. He has a base price of Rs. 30 lakhs.
Who Is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?According to available information, Vaibhav was born three years after the inaugural season of the IPL on 27th March, 2011. However, some confusion remains over his age, as the list published by the BCCI has him listed as 14 years old. Vaibhav burst into the limelight last season when, at the age of 12, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar against Mumbai. So far, he has played five first-class matches and scored 100 runs at an average of 10 and is yet to get a single half-century. Earlier this year, he was picked in the Indian U-19 to face Australia. He created history by scoring a century in the Youth Test at Chennai, which made him the youngest player to score an international century. He has also been named in the Indian squad for the upcoming U-19 Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 29 to December 8. Vaibhav is one of 318 uncapped Indian players that will go under the hammer. The list also included 308 overseas players and 48 capped Indian stars. While Suryavanshi is the youngest, England legend James Anderson is the oldest player on the list. The 42-year-old will also be looking to secure his first ever IPL contract.
