Govt to spend Rs 11L on structural audit of Junta House
Panaji: State govt will conduct the structural audit of Junta House in Panaji, which houses many govt offices. Govt will spend over Rs 11 lakh to complete the structural audit and non-destructive testing (NDT).
The PWD has invited bidders for the study, and the selected bidder must complete the audit within 15 days. Many govt buildings are in dilapidated condition. Junta House was once the administrative citadel of the state and even today it houses several key departments, including transport.

Govt is in the process of demolishing 110 unsafe buildings . The PWD is empanelling contractors to take up urgent repairs of govt buildings that are deteriorating. A provision of Rs 600 crore has been made by govt for urgently repairing, maintaining, and constructing buildings. The audit of govt buildings will be completed by Dec, and a taluka-wise structural audit of minor buildings will be done by March 2025. The structural audit of 192 buildings is in process.
There are 1,383 buildings under 30 years old. NBCC (India) Limited, formerly known as National Buildings Construction Corporation, has bagged the contract to redevelop six major govt buildings . The value of the six projects is Rs 10,000 crore.
The project will have a built-up area of 1.8 lakh sqm, but the state will not spend any money on redevelopment. Junta House, govt garage on MG Road, the administrative building at Porvorim, Circuit House at Altinho, and govt quarters at St Inez will be redeveloped as per the in-principle approval.
