Nigerian held with drugs worth Rs 75,000
Panaji: A Nigerian was arrested by the crime branch of Goa police on Saturday for allegedly possessing narcotic substances worth Rs 75,000. He was also overstaying illegally. Obineri Udoko Anthony, also known as Tony, was found with 15 and a half pink tablets, suspected to be the psychotropic substance ecstasy, along with a mobile phone and a scooter.
SP crime branch Rahul Gupta stated that the arrest was made based on a tip-off. The tip-off said that a Nigerian man, aged about 45 to 50 years, would be arriving on a white scooter to deliver drugs to a prospective customer at a parking place near Arambol.

An FIR was registered under the provisions of the NDPS Act and the Foreigners Act 1946. The accused was remanded in five days of police custody.
