Gurgaon: A Class 11 student at a private school in Palam Vihar suffered injuries to his right eye after being thrashed by four of his classmates in the classroom on Wednesday morning.

The teen's father filed a police complaint against four students of the school, who were later suspended. No case has been registered so far.

A businessman in Palam Vihar alleged his 17-year-old son was assaulted by his fellow students with a chair.

"He suffered an injury to his eye and was also bleeding from the mouth when I reached the school. Though my house is only 20m from the school, the management did not inform us immediately about the incident. The students who assaulted my son were jealous that he performs good in academics and was made the class monitor," the father said.

When contacted by TOI, the school's director of education said, "One student was assaulted by his classmate and some of his friends. The incident happened in the short gap between two classes in the absence of a teacher. After the incident, we immediately provided first aid to the injured student and called his parents. We also offered a vehicle and support of our staffers to take the student to hospital. We have suspended four students involved in the incident and informed police."

Inspector Bijender Singh of Palam Vihar police station said the boy's father rushed him to the Civil Hospital after the incident, from where he was directed to Park Hospital.

"The incident happened around 9am. The teenager suffered injuries on his face and eye after being thrashed by his classmates. Based on the medical report, we will initiate an appropriate legal action. We are yet to receive the report from the hospital. The boy's father lodged a complaint against four students. We have not yet registered a case," the inspector said.
