Chatra DC leads 'night chaupal' to boost voter turnout
Chatra: District election officer and deputy Ccommissioner Ramesh Gholap emphasised the importance of voting rights during a night chaupal (community meeting) held on Sunday in Jhumra under Chatra municipal council area.
The event, organised under SVEEP programme, aimed to raise voter awareness for the upcoming November 13 elections in the Chatra assembly constituency. Various engagement activities, including a selfie point, signature campaign, and voter oath ceremony, were conducted to encourage participation.
“Your vote is your right, and you must exercise it,” Gholap stressed during his address. He highlighted that 100% voter turnout from any polling booth or village would demonstrate strong civic awareness. The DC also mentioned the ongoing district-wide campaign promoting "No to Drugs, Yes to Vote."
Gholap emphasised that democracy thrives when everyone participates in the electoral process. He revealed that special awareness drives are being conducted at polling stations with historically low turnout in both Chatra and Simaria assembly constituencies.
The event featured street plays to educate voters about their rights, and attendees enthusiastically participated in the selfie campaign organised by the election office. Participants chanted various slogans promoting voting awareness, including "Nothing like vote" and "Chatra will vote."
The programme concluded with residents and senior district officials joining a signature campaign, pledging their commitment to vote. The initiative particularly focused on encouraging families to vote together and ensuring maximum participation in the upcoming elections.
