SRH, who won their maiden IPL title in 2016 and finished runners-up in 2024, have been active in acquiring top players like Travis Head and Pat Cummins during the auctions, signaling their intent to strengthen both batting and bowling departments.

With a well-defined plan and solid financial standing, SRH are prepared to participate in the 2025 IPL mega auction . The auction, which is set for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is anticipated to be extremely competitive as teams try to reassemble their teams for the forthcoming campaign.

The IPL 2025 auction for Sunrisers Hyderabad will likely focus on addressing areas of improvement from the 2024 season. With a strong bowling core already in place, SRH might aim to enhance their top-order batting stability or bring in impactful finishers to complement their middle order.

Retained core players

In preparation for the mega auction, SRH confirmed the retention of five key players who form the backbone of their team.

Here's a breakdown of the retained players and the amounts spent:

• Heinrich Klaasen : Retained for Rs 23 crore
• Pat Cummins: Retained for Rs 18 crore
• Travis Head: Retained for Rs 14 crore
• Abhishek Sharma: Retained for Rs 14 crore

Nitish Kumar Reddy: Retained for Rs 6 crore

These retentions cost SRH a total of Rs 75 crore and they are now left with a remaining purse of Rs 45 crore. Players like Travis Head and Pat Cummins significantly boost SRH's balance and depth. Head brings top-order stability and the ability to counter spin effectively. He adds firepower to SRH's middle-order and can anchor innings or accelerate when required. Known for his pace, leadership, and death-overs skill, Cummins will lead the bowling attack and be pivotal in high-pressure games.

Remaining purse, auction strategy and key slots to fill

With Rs 45 crore in hand, SRH might focus on enhancing consistency if their current openers underperform and would be eyeing a reliable Indian or overseas power-hitter for the death overs. To back up their current line-up, SRH might add an additional quality spinner, potentially a domestic talent.
