Udaipur, November 13, 2024 — On Children’s Day, HDFC Bank announced a major milestone in its ongoing mission to empower young learners across India. Through its CSR initiative, Parivartan, the bank has pledged to establish SMART classes in 3,500 schools by 2025. This ambitious project aims to provide digital learning environments to underserved communities, transforming educational access and opportunities for children nationwide.

With a decade of impactful outreach, HDFC Bank Parivartan has already touched over 21.6 million students, trained more than 2 million teachers, and supported nearly 287,000 schools. In celebration of Children’s Day, the bank launched its #LittleSmilesBigDreams campaign, showcasing the inspiring journeys of students who’ve benefited from Parivartan’s support.

Stories of Transformation: A Glimpse into Parivartan’s Impact

One such story is that of Kalash and Komal from Jamapur, Varanasi. Despite the challenges faced by their tribal families, these young students made the decision to stay behind during seasonal migration to continue their studies at a newly upgraded SMART school. Once hesitant and reserved, Kalash is now a top-performing student, a testament to the life-changing effect of modern classrooms, science labs, and sports facilities funded by HDFC Bank Parivartan and Ambuja Cement Foundation. In a historic shift, girls now outnumber boys in the school’s enrollment—a powerful indication of the initiative’s impact on attendance and inclusivity.

Goals for 2025: Empowering Students and Communities

By 2025, HDFC Bank Parivartan aims to:

  • Support Class-Appropriate Learning for 2 million students across its intervention schools.
  • Set up SMART Classes in 3,500 schools, bridging the digital divide and introducing technology-driven education.
  • Award 25,000 Scholarships to underprivileged students to ensure financial barriers don’t stand in the way of their futures.
  • A Vision for Inclusive Education

Kaizad M Bharucha, Deputy Managing Director of HDFC Bank, shared his vision: “At HDFC Bank, we believe that education is the foundation of a more equitable and prosperous future. Through Parivartan, we’re committed to transforming educational infrastructure, empowering students, and cultivating resilient communities. On this Children’s Day, we renew our pledge to empower young minds and equip educators to inspire, ensuring a more inclusive tomorrow.”

    Collaborative Mission for Lasting Impact

Nusrat Pathan, Head of CSR at HDFC Bank, highlighted the role of partnerships: “Children are our nation’s future, and we are committed to providing them with the tools they need to thrive. We work closely with government bodies, NGOs, and community organizations to ensure that educational resources reach the students who need them most, setting a stronger foundation for a brighter future.”

As HDFC Bank Parivartan strives to fulfill its goals by 2025, it’s not only bringing education to underserved regions but creating a legacy of opportunity, inclusion, and empowerment for the next generation across India.
