Who is Rakshit Chaurasia? A law student who killed 1, injured 2
A routine night in Vadodara turned into a horrifying tragedy when a speeding Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus crashed into a two-wheeler, killing a woman on the spot and injuring two others. At the center of the chaos? Rakshit Chaurasia, a law student from MS University, whose reckless driving has left an entire city in shock. But who exactly is this man behind the wheel of disaster?
Originally from Varanasi, Chaurasia was no ordinary student—he was a law scholar at MS University, someone who should have understood the consequences of rash driving better than anyone. But on Thursday night, he swapped his textbooks for recklessness, taking his friend Meet Chauhan’s high-speed machine for a fatal joyride.

The Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus, bearing the number plate GJ06RA687, was reportedly moving at over 100 kmph when it crashed into the scooty near Vadodara’s Amrapali complex. The impact was so severe that airbags deployed instantly, and the car’s front was completely wrecked. The woman riding the scooty was killed on the spot, while two others were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
As locals rushed to the scene, what they witnessed was beyond shocking. Eyewitnesses reported that Chaurasia, instead of showing remorse, was behaving erratically and shouting bizarre phrases like “Another round, Another round!” before randomly chanting “Om Namah Shivay.” The sheer absurdity of his actions left bystanders stunned. Many even took matters into their own hands and beat him up before handing him over to the police.

Meanwhile, his friend and the car’s actual owner, Meet Chauhan, managed to escape. In a video that has now gone viral, Chauhan, dressed in a white T-shirt, can be heard defending himself, claiming, “I did nothing, he was the one driving.”
Drink, drive, destroy: The aftermathDCP Panna Momaya confirmed that Chaurasia was under the influence of alcohol. The accident happened near a Holi celebration venue, forcing authorities to cancel the ongoing Rangotsav program as a mark of respect for the victim. Senior police officials, along with BJP leaders, visited the site, as the city reeled from the shocking crash.
The vehicle was registered under Deon Technology Pvt Ltd, raising further questions about how it landed in the hands of these young men. Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway to track down Meet Chauhan, who is currently absconding.
The incident is a grim reminder of how one night of careless fun can destroy multiple lives. A law student, who should have upheld justice, now finds himself on the wrong side of it. With a woman dead, families shattered, and a city outraged, the case of Rakshit Chaurasia is a chilling lesson in irresponsibility and privilege gone wrong.
