MCA President Cup: KRP XI Emerge Champions

Opening batter Tanisha Sharma’s fine half century knock of 58 runs was the feature of KRP XI emerging champions as they defeated Sainath SC by 11 runs in the MCA President Cup C & D Division finals, played at Worli SC ground on Saturday.

Choosing to bat, KRP XI amassed a score of 140 and lost three wickets from their 20 overs. Sharma’s innings came from 83 balls and contained 10 hits to the boundary ropes. Pranjal Soni (35) and Nidhi Gharat (23*) contributed useful runs to the KRP total.

Defending a modest total KRP rose to the challenge and with some disciplined bowling and tight fighting did well to restrict Sainath SC to 129 for seven wickets from their stipulated overs. Shreeni Soni (36) and Nidhi Gharat (28) were the only two batters to get some runs on the board. KRP bowlers Advaita Toraskar 2 for 25 and Parishti Chheda 2 for 36 were responsible to the put the brakes on the Sainath scoring.

Brief scores (final): KRP XI 140 for 3, 20 overs (Tanisha Sharma 58, Pranjal Soni 35, Chetna Kamble 23*) beat Sainath SC 129 for 7, 20 overs (Shreeni Soni 36, Nidhi Gharat 28; Advaita Toraskar 2/25, Parishti Chheda 2/36). Result: KRP XI won by 11 runs.
