Trust me when I say this, if there was anything that could have lightened my Diwali this year, it was the only hope to witness and Vidya Balan Ami-Je-Tomaring together in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. In fact, I was so excited about this heavenly union of the two legends of the Indian Cinema that I even chose to ignore an underwhelming trailer that was compensated by just a glimpse of these two actresses!

But some dreams should never turn into a reality. And as heartbreakingly as I realize, I do realize that anticipating this union, probably with so much excitement, could have jinxed this song that has finally been released, and oh my god – what did I just see!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is all set to battle against giant Singham Again, and its biggest weapon to fight this war was Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit having a dance face-off on-screen. What could have turned into a Dola Re Dola, a Dance of Envy, or a Pinga of this decade turned into such a sham of the highest degree that the disappointment is unbelievable!

Choreographed by Chinni Prakash, the song offers a glimpse of the face-off with the mukhda of Ami Je Tomar and Madhuri Dixit kathak-ing her way to challenge , tuning into the classic Bharatnatyam; she offered in part 1 as well. Now, here comes the sad part – none of it, not even an iota, seems synchronized, blended, and is so haphazard that it is unbelievable to waste two icons on something that turns out to be so frivolous!

Even sadder part is that this comes from the man who has given us Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast and Jumma Chumma De De – two iconic songs of Indian Cinema that are used to swear to when it comes to phenomenal Hindi film dancing!

Coming to the music part, Ami Je Tomar 3.0 has been restructured and composed by Amal Malik and additional lyrics have been written by Sameer. While Shreya Ghoshal sings it this extension just rips off the soul of the original by Pritam. Even the reboot in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was bearable with Arijit Singh’s voice, but this latest version of Ami Je Tomar was something I was totally not ready for. No matter how much I love Shreya Ghoshal, it is a sin to deconstruct Ami Je Tomar and its soul! I wish Monjolika never forgave them for this. Come Monjolika; this Dushto Rajo deserves your wrath and fury!

BRB, picking the broken pieces of my heart! You can have a look at the song here! I, still hope that the film does justice. In fact, this wasn’t even the time to release this. This asset should have been kept under wraps for the film, just like the Sonu Nigam version of the song (my last living hope with Ami Je Tomar). Fingers crossed!
