05 Mar 2025
Apple has revealed a new member of its laptop family, the MacBook Air with the latest M4 chip and Apple Intelligence.
The refreshed model retains its iconic design but comes with improved performance.
Customers can choose between two display sizes - 13-inch and 15-inch.
The entry-level model with a 13-inch display starts at ₹99,900, while the 15-inch version begins at ₹1.25 lakh.
Pre-orders, RAM, and Thunderbolt ports
Specifications
Pre-orders for the new MacBook Air are already open, with shipments scheduled to start on March 12.
The base model still comes with 16GB of RAM, just like last year's variant. However, customers can upgrade the built-in memory to 32GB at the time of purchase.
The refreshed laptop also features two Thunderbolt ports, but these have been upgraded to Thunderbolt 4.
Enhanced webcam and new color option
Features
The new MacBook Air features an upgraded 12MP webcam with Center Stage support, a software capability that centers the person currently speaking in the frame.
Apple has also introduced a new color option, Sky Blue, for the model. The previous colors of Midnight, Starlight, and Silver are still available for customers.
MacBook Air vs MacBook Pro
Comparison
While the 2025 MacBook Air is lighter and more affordable than the MacBook Pro, it does come with certain trade-offs.
The MacBook Pro promises longer battery life and flaunts a mini-LED display with higher pixel density.
However, despite these differences, the MacBook Air remains one of Apple's best-selling laptops due to its appealing balance between performance and price.
Apple's transition to M4 chip
Chip transition
Apple first introduced the M4 processor with the iPad Pro in May 2024. Since then, the company has been slowly moving its product lineup to the new chip.
The MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac now come with either M4 processors or their Pro and Max variants.
With the latest addition of the MacBook Air to the M4 family, Apple completes its consumer laptop range with its latest processor tech.
