PM Modi Expresses Condolences: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Noel Tata on Thursday to offer his condolences on the loss of his brother, veteran industrialist Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Expressing his grief, PM Modi shared, "I am deeply saddened by his passing. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and admirers during this difficult time. Om Shanti."
Reflecting on Ratan Tata's contributions, PM Modi highlighted his dedication to various causes, saying, "One of the most remarkable qualities of Shri Ratan Tata Ji was his vision for dreaming big and giving back to society. He was a strong advocate for causes such as education, healthcare, sanitation, and animal welfare, among many others."
People from across the country gathered outside the residence of Ratan Tata in Mumbai on Thursday morning to pay their final respects to the legendary industrialist, who passed away at the age of 86. Among the early visitors was cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, who arrived at Tata's Colaba residence to honor his memory.
The atmosphere outside Tata's home was somber, with people from all walks of life joining in to pay their respects. The Mumbai Police band was also present, along with security personnel and mediapersons.
Ratan Tata, a towering figure in Indian industry, was instrumental in transforming the Tata Group into a global business empire. He passed away on Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Goa CM Pays Tribute
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed his grief over Tata's passing, calling him an inspiration for generations of entrepreneurs and industrialists. Sawant praised Tata’s bold decisions, such as the acquisition of Jaguar-Land Rover and major steel companies in Europe, which marked India’s arrival on the global business stage.
Sawant also highlighted Tata’s contributions to supporting Indian startups through his involvement in the Start Up India initiative. "His legacy will continue to inspire entrepreneurs for generations," Sawant said in a heartfelt message.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s Tribute
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also mourned the loss of the visionary industrialist. He described Ratan Tata as a beacon of India’s entrepreneurial spirit whose influence will continue to inspire future generations. In a social media post, Patnaik extended his condolences to Tata’s family and followers.
Amit Shah to Attend Last Rites
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to attend Ratan Tata's last rites, representing the government at the solemn ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached out to Tata’s brother, Noel Tata, to offer his condolences and acknowledge the significant loss of an iconic figure in Indian industry.
The passing of Ratan Tata marks the end of an era for Indian industry, but his legacy of integrity, innovation, and philanthropy will live on.
