PM Modi to Get Top Honours from Guyana and Barbados, So Far 19 International Honors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to receive the highest national honours from Guyana and Barbados, further solidifying his global recognition. These accolades will bring his total count of international awards to 19.

Guyana will present PM Modi with 'The Order of Excellence,' while Barbados will bestow the 'Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados' during his upcoming visits.

Recognition from Nigeria Before his visit to Guyana, PM Modi concluded a successful trip to Nigeria, where he was awarded the 'Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger' (GCON) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This award recognizes PM Modi's leadership and his role in enhancing India-Nigeria relations. Notably, he is only the second foreign dignitary to receive this distinction, the first being Queen Elizabeth II in 1969.

President Tinubu lauded PM Modi's commitment to democratic values, stating, "Winning three consecutive elections in a complex society is a feat we respect so much."

Honour from Dominica Earlier this week, Dominica announced its 'Dominica Award of Honour' for PM Modi, acknowledging his support during the Covid-19 pandemic and efforts to strengthen India-Dominica relations. This award will be conferred by Dominica’s President Sylvanie Burton during the India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana.

A Legacy of Global Recognition PM Modi's record-breaking 17 civilian honours reflect India's growing global influence. He has previously received prestigious awards from nations such as Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, UAE, Russia, Maldives, Bahrain, and the US, among others.

Seoul Peace Prize (2018) for global harmony and peace. Champions of the Earth Award (2018) for environmental leadership. Philip Kotler Presidential Award (2019) for national leadership. Global Goalkeeper Award (2019) by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award (2021) for his contributions to energy and environmental sustainability. These accolades highlight PM Modi's impact on both the global stage and India's strengthened diplomatic ties worldwide.
