Lorraine Kelly was caught off guard on her ITV show when her daughter Rosie Smith's adorable Dachshund, Ruby, made a surprise appearance in full festive garb.

The beloved Scottish presenter, aged 64, couldn't hide her delight as she exclaimed: "Ohh Ruby, on no, ohh Ruby. Hello my baby," when the little dog trotted onto the set sporting a Christmas Pudding jacket during the fashion segment.

As one of the models strutted out, Lorraine noticed a familiar furry friend joining the fashion showcase, much to her surprise, on Tuesday (26 November).

Ruby's tail wagged excitedly, as she made a beeline for Lorraine and began affectionately licking her face, prompting the TV icon to coo: "Ohh you look beautiful darling, that's a lovely wee outfit.", reports .

Lorraine later clarified that Ruby was with her because she was looking after the pooch for the day, jokingly referring to herself as a 'Granny' while chatting with the show's fashion expert.

2019 has been eventful for Lorraine and her family, after her daughter Rosie gave birth to a baby girl, Billie Kelly Smith-White, in August, adding another member to their Scottish clan, much to the proud grandmother's joy.

She continued, "You have that unconditional love. [her husband] Steve and I went to see Rosie in the hospital to meet Billie, and I felt I had known her my whole life. She's absolutely beautiful, just gorgeous."

This on-screen family reunion held special significance as it echoed the time 30 years prior when Lorraine introduced her own daughter Rosie to the GMTV audience.

During the segment, Rosie shared candidly about her postnatal challenges, including bouts of anxiety, yet she also joyfully referred to Billie as a "dream baby".
