Currently, millions of users are unable to access the popular AI tool, ChatGPT. The service disruptions have been reported globally with users encountering issues such as slow loading speeds, error messages, or problems connecting.

The outage appears to be primarily impacting OpenAI’s website with the mobile application seemingly unaffected. The cause of this disruption remains unknown although potential contributing factors could include server capacity issues, technical glitches, or planned maintenance activities.

However, the company behind the popular tool, OpenAI is yet to officially address the situation.

According to the outage tracking website Downdetector, the number of reported problems spiked dramatically around 5: 17 pm reaching a peak of 3,554 reports. However, Downdetector only flags an incident when the number of reports significantly exceeds the typical volume for that time of day, indicating that the outage was not a minor issue.

This disruption in services impacts a vast user base including students, researchers, professionals, and individuals who rely on ChatGPT for various purposes such as creative writing, content generation, and other tasks.
