Drunk, man kills estranged wife in full public view in Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: A 37-year-old woman was murdered on Saturday by her estranged husband near Medavakkam Kootroad bus stop. Her partner, who was also injured, is being treated at Rajiv Gandhi Govt General Hospital.
Police said the deceased, Jothi, a beautician, had separated from her husband Manikandan, 42, seven years ago, and moved to Medavakkam with her three sons. She later got into a relationship with Krishnamoorthy, 38, a relative of Manikandan.

On Saturday, Manikandan, recently back from Sabarimala, contacted Jothi to offer her prasadham. They met at Pallikaranai, where an argument ensued.
Jothi allegedly assaulted Manikandan there. Later that night, around 9pm, Jothi and Krishnamoorthy confronted a drunk Manikandan near the bus stop. During the argument, Manikandan pulled out a knife and stabbed Jothi repeatedly before attacking Krishnamoorthy too.
Locals intervened and alerted the police. The woman was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
A case was registered.
