3 injured as fire breaks due to gas pipeline leakage in Mumbai's Andheri
MUMBAI: Three people were injured after a fire broke out due to a leakage in an MGL gas pipeline passing through the middle of the road at Takshila in Andheri (East) around 12.30 am.
The blaze also gutted four vehicles, including two Wagon R cars, an auto-rickshaw, and a two-wheeler.
The injured, including two motorcyclists and an auto-rickshaw driver, were taken to the hospital before the fire brigade arrived. They are currently undergoing treatment at the trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari.
The fire, which erupted near Sher-E-Punjab Society, was extinguished by 1.50 am. The injured have been identified as Arvindkumar Kaithal (21), Aman Harishankar Saroj (22), and Suresh Kailas Gupta (52).
Fire breaks out on road following leak in gas pipeline
In a similar incident, panic gripped residents of Rajatgiri area in Dharwad after a fire broke out on the road due to a gas pipeline leakage on February 9, 2025.
Morning walkers initially mistook the flames at Rajatgiri Cross 1 for burning dry leaves, but within seconds, the fire spread across the entire stretch. Realizing the severity, they alerted police and firefighters.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and used water cannons to contain the blaze, taking nearly 15 minutes to douse it completely. Vidyagiri police cordoned off the area, restricting movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Emergency service officials confirmed that the fire was caused by a leakage in a gas pipeline laid by IOC and Adani. The leakage was contained, and the fire was extinguished without any damage to life or property.
