Former Fossils member Chandramouli Biswas commits suicide in Kolkata
Chandramouli Biswas, known for being a part of bands like Fossils, Golok, and Zombie Cage Control as a bassist, was found dead at his Kolkata residence on Sunday evening. The 48-year-old musician reportedly hanged himself while his elderly parents were not at home. He was reportedly battling depression for the past few years. On Sunday afternoon, Chandramouli updated his profile picture on Facebook.
The news of Chandramouli's death reached the members of Fossils while they were en route to a program in Kalyani. The band's lead vocalist, Rupam Islam, and the other members were visibly shaken as they took the stage.
Breaking the silence Rupam addressed the audience, “ We’ve performed on this stage 21 times, and in 16 of those performances, the person whose picture is displayed behind us was with us. When we arrived here, we received some shocking news in the car, and it hit us like a bolt of lightning. It's impossible to sing or play an instrument in moments like these. Yet, here we are, with the Bengali rock crowd in front of us. Chandra was a dear companion for many years, and I can say without hesitation that he was my best friend. We were in touch until last year."
