PUNE: The Pune city police on Sunday arrested Gaurav Ahuja, the driver of a luxury car, for allegedly engaging in public misconduct at the Yerwada junction. Ahuja, who had been on the run, was nabbed from Karad in Satara district, officials said.

According to police, Ahuja, under the influence of alcohol, stopped his BMW at the Yerwada junction on Saturday morning and urinated in full public view. A passerby recorded the act on a mobile phone, and the video soon went viral, sparking outrage among locals.

"The accused did not just urinate in public but also displayed inappropriate behavior when confronted by a bystander," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himmat Jadhav.

Taking cognizance of the video, the Yerwada police registered a case under BNS Sections 270, 281, and 285, along with relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act and the Motor Vehicles Act.

"We have arrested one of the accused and are searching for the other, who is currently absconding. Further investigation is underway," DCP Jadhav added.

Meanwhile, Senior Inspector Ravindra Shelke confirmed that Ahuja will be produced in court later today.
