Nadda lashes out at CPM and Cong for spreading misinformation in Tripura
Agartala: Union health minister and BJP national president JP Nadda, while addressing a public rally here on Sunday on the celebration of the second anniversary of the Manik Saha govt, lashed out at CPM and Congress for misleading the people with distorted information to cover up their failure and misrule.
"Whenever you evaluate the performance of the BJP govt, you must recall the terror, murder, mayhem, atrocities and oppression of the 35-year-long Communist rule and five years of the Congress rule in Tripura. Today, people are free to move and pursue their interests; women can move safely even at late night. Police are active against the criminals, which were absent in those days," Nadda said.
The crime rate of Tripura has improved and it now stands at third from the bottom among 28 states because of the pro-people governance of Manik Saha and his commitment to the people. The status of women has also marked a significant milestone in terms of safety, security and empowerment, Nadda said.
He said the BJP govt in Tripura has doubled farmers income, brought over 20,000 hectares under organic cultivation, ensured sustainable connectivity of Tripura with the rest of the country by express trains and air, multiple employment and livelihood opportunities.
Reiterating the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to the development of Tripura, Nadda said the share of central tax for Tripura has increased more than three times after enhancement of the devolution of taxes. "Before Modiji took over, Tripura got Rs 9,000 crore as share of central tax and after 10 years the state is getting Rs 46,000 crore," Nadda said.
He announced two new schemes for girls — ‘Mukhyamantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana' and ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana'. Under ‘Mukhyamantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana', the state govt will offer a bond of Rs 50,000 for every girl child to be born in BPL families from now. When the girl will turn 18 years, the bond will mature and she will be getting at least Rs 10 lakh. Under ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana', the state govt will provide a scooty to college-going girl students.
Addressing the gathering, chief minister Manik Saha asserted that because of the BJP govt's initiative Tripura is now ‘militancy free' and the law-and-order situation has improved. There is no political murder and violence. The govt is fighting tooth and nail against narcotic drugs to make Tripura free from drug abuse.
