Indore: Indore and its surrounding areas witnessed a shift in weather patterns, with temperature soaring beyond 35 degrees Celsius, as the influence of chilly winds faded. Both day and night temperatures rose, making the warmth felt throughout the day. Meteorologists forecast that the heat would intensify further after March 15.

Since Sunday morning, the city experienced intense heat, with bright sunshine prevailing throughout the day. The absence of winds led to a significant rise in temperature, marking the first time in March's second week that the mercury climbed to 35.2 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees above normal. Even the evening temperature at 5:30 pm stood at 33.6 degrees Celsius, which was higher than usual evening temperature in Indore. The night temperature, which dropped to 10 degrees on March 6, rose to 18 degrees on Sunday early morning, which was three degrees above normal. The morning temperature at 8:30 am also stood at 25 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 33:8 degrees Celsius, which was one degree above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 16.4 degrees Celsius.

Dr Divya E Surendran, a weather scientist from IMD Bhopal said, "Temperatures will rise further after March 15. A western disturbance became active over the western Himalayan region from Sunday, which may influence the state's weather in the coming days. However, there is no forecast for rain at present."

With March's second week underway, night temperature in the Indore division are expected to remain 2-3 degrees higher than usual. As north-westerly winds strengthen at night, temperature may further rise to 20-23°C. Additionally, the interaction between western disturbances and south-eastern winds may bring cloudy skies in eastern and southern regions, with possibilities of thunderstorms and light showers, said the weatherman

Many residents have started feeling the discomfort of rising temperature. "The afternoons are becoming unbearable. Stepping out in the sun even for a short while feels exhausting," said Ramesh Patel, a resident from Vijay Nagar.

College student Anjali Sharma added, "The evenings used to be pleasant, but now it feels warm even after sunset."

With the warm winds setting in, residents are gearing up for a hotter season ahead.
