IMD issues yellow alert for three districts today
Kochi: The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Wayanad on Saturday. Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places in the state until Sunday.
In its special Sabarimala pilgrimage report, the IMD stated that thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at Sannidhanam, Nilackal, and Pamba on Saturday afternoon.
The cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu and the neighbourhood now lies over the Gulf of Mannar and the adjoining Sri Lankan coast, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. The cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep and the adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, which extended up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, has weakened. However, its influence continues to affect weather conditions over Kerala.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon was active in the state in the past 24 hours. Kuppady in Wayanad recorded 7cm of rainfall. Thodupuzha, Neyyattinkara, Mavelikkara, Kayamkulam, Kudulu, and Ranni received 4cm of rainfall.
