'Silence of Farook College suspicious'
SLUG-Munambam Issue
Kozhikode: Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS) general secretary AP Abdul Hakeem Azhari said the silence of Farook college on Munambam land issue was suspicious. It is a big question how the land at Munambam, registered as waqf, was sold and how the transaction was registered by the registrar, he added.
Azhari said if the transaction was made by taking money from the poor, then it violated the law. He said it is up to the govt to resolve the issue after examining all documents. He said if the sale was conducted by the college, then it is up to it to resolve the issue.
The issue can be resolved if college authorities break their silence. "It is better if the right persons speak accurately," he said. Azhari said he cannot agree with the idea of evicting residents for what happened in the past. He urged that actions that could disrupt the law and order and the social environment of the land should be avoided.
Azhari said everyone should extend their support to govt to resolve the issue. He felt that Christians have no special role in this matter as it is not a dispute between two religions. Discussions to maintain peace are beneficial, he said, referring to the recent talks between IUML state president Panakkad Sadikkali Shihab Thangal and Church leaders.
He said the management of Siraj newspaper took the decision to publish LDF's advertisement in the newspaper before Palakkad byelection. It was assumed that advertisements were given to all newspapers and those who provided the advertisement should respond to questions over the content, he added.
