DGP reviews law and order situation in six districts
Madurai: Director-general of police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal chaired a review and advisory meeting on Thursday with senior police officers from six districts, including Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, and Sivagangai. The meeting, held at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Madurai, focused on key issues such as crime prevention and police-public relations.
The DGP emphasized strategies for monitoring and preventing crimes against women and children, tackling narcotics and ganja peddling, and addressing cybercrimes. He also stressed the importance of improving public perception of the police and advised on patrol strategies and special team deployments for crime prevention.
During the meeting, Jiwal reviewed ongoing cases, including murders, caste-related crimes, and road accidents across the districts. He was joined by inspector-general of police (South Zone) Prem Anand Sinha, Madurai district superintendent of police B K Arvind, Madurai city police commissioner J Loganathan, and other senior officers.
On Friday, the DGP is scheduled to chair a grievance meeting for police officers, providing them an opportunity to submit petitions and concerns.
