RAIPUR: In a horrific incident in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, a 14-year-old juvenile after watching porn content on a mobile phone lured a 4-year-old girl in his neighbourhood with chocolates and took her to a desolate under-construction building and tried to rape her and later murdered her when she tried to raise an alarm.

The juvenile was detained by the police and sent to a correction home. The incident took place on Feb 24 and the juvenile accused was arrested on Feb 25. The girl had gone missing from the Sarkanda region in the evening when she left home for playing around 6 pm and didn't return. Her parents and neighbours searched for her till late hours.

The juvenile accused also joined the search operations and misled them by not allowing them to go near the crime spot. Tired, the parents of the girl called off the search late at night, assuming that she might be staying back at a friend's house in the neighbourhood. They reported the matter to police on Tuesday morning when the girl did not return.

During the day, a labourer found the blood smeared semi-nude body of the minor girl on the roof of an under-construction house. Police were informed and the body was identified. Based on statements of labourers in the area and CCTV footage, the juvenile was detained.

When police zeroed on to the juvenile accused in the case, he remained composed and tried to mislead them. It was only after he was confronted with the CCTV footage that he gave in and admitted to committing the crime.

He said he watched a porn movie and later took the girl from the neighbourhood and tried to rape her. He bludgeoned the victim to death with construction material after she tried to make noise while he tried to rape her.

The incident has jolted the people in the region who are questioning the impact of internet and social media and the easy accessibility to adult content sites.
