Ranchi: Chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar said all counting centres for the upcoming assembly elections would be under CCTV surveillance.

Stressing that the Election Commission of India (ECI) aimed to ensure transparent and error-free voting, CEO Kumar on Saturday said webcasting of the process would be set up to monitor the booths and centres from the main election office in Dhurwa. The system helped identify and correct three errors during the Lok Sabha elections, he added.

Officers and personnel at polling stations would be equipped with an ASD (Absentee, Shifted, and Deceased) list. The list would help prevent duplicate voting by tracking deceased voters, those who have relocated, and absentee voters, he added.

Authorities have seized illegal materials and cash worth ₹166.82 crore across the state since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect. The state police led the seizures with Rs 121.96 crore, followed by the Commercial Tax Department (Rs 8.43 crore), Excise Department (Rs 7.31 crore), Forest Department (Rs 7.22 crore), and Income Tax Department (Rs 1.62 crore).
