Man attacks wife for emptying alcohol in sink
Thiruvananthapuram: Fort police have registered a case against a Manacaud native for brutally attacking his wife using a wooden log on Tuesday night. The woman was assaulted for emptying his bottle of alcohol in the sink.
The victim has been identified as Usha, 39, of Kuttikad at Manacaud. Her husband, Arun Raj, 44, is absconding, and police have intensified the search for him.
The woman said that she emptied the bottle as the husband used to torture her under the influence of alcohol.
The woman, who suffered grievous injuries in the attack, is being treated at the medical college hospital.
The police registered a case over the incident after being alerted by the hospital authorities.
The case was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 110 for attempting to commit culpable homicide, 351 for criminal intimidation, 115 (2) for voluntarily causing hurt, 118 (1) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, and 296 (b) for abusing.
She needed seven stitches for her head wound, and her condition remains stable now.
The couple has been married for 18 years, and they have no children.
