Veteran actor Sanjay Khan went through a life-changing ordeal after suffering severe burns on the sets of 'The Sword of Tipu Sultan.' His wife, Zarine Khan, once shared how difficult those days were, watching him fight for survival in the hospital.

In an old interview with Lehren, Zarine recalled seeing her husband helpless after the accident. She said that in that heartbreaking moment, she felt an inner strength take over. She believed that Sanjay would not give up and would fight back. According to her, despite facing challenges at every step, their faith and determination helped them get through the toughest times.

The devastating fire on the set of the show resulted in the tragic deaths of 52 crew members. The accident happened due to insufficient fire safety measures. Sanjay Khan, who was both acting and directing the project, suffered third-degree burns covering 65% of his body. His injuries were so severe that he had to undergo 73 surgeries and spend 13 months in the hospital. However, after recovering, he showed remarkable resilience by returning to complete the show.

In his autobiography, The Best Mistakes of My Life, Sanjay described the terrifying night that still haunts him. He wrote that the fire broke out while they were filming in the evening. He had stepped outside for a tea break when he suddenly heard loud noises from inside the studio. Without a second thought, he rushed in, leaving his cup of tea behind. The studio doors were shut, making the situation even more dangerous.

Describing the horrifying sight, he wrote that flames engulfed half the studio. A crew member standing on the catwalk above was desperately trying to put out the fire with a piece of cloth. Sanjay shouted at him to jump down immediately and instructed others to open the studio doors and call the fire brigade.

At one point, he fell to the ground, and everything turned blue around him. Later, he realized that a tin of paint had fallen on him, causing a deep head injury. But despite the pain, his priority was to save his crew. He admitted that he didn’t realize how serious his injuries were at the time, but he endured excruciating pain for nine long months before he could fully recover.

Despite facing such a tragic accident, Sanjay Khan’s determination and willpower helped him overcome one of the darkest phases of his life.
