Booker Prize Winner Bernardine Evaristo to Inaugurate Kolkata Literary Meet 2025
The 13th Kolkata Literary Meet is set to take place from January 21 to January 26, 2025, at the Horticultural Garden in Alipore. This year’s theme, Readiscover, will be inaugurated by Booker Prize-winning author Bernardine Evaristo. Featuring nearly 150 speakers, including two Nobel laureates, the event promises a series of enriching discussions.
Highlights of the meet include Shabana Azmi and Rajit Kapur discussing Shyam Benegal's cinema, Nobel laureates Venki Ramakrishnan and Esther Duflo, and comedian-turned-author Kanan Gill on his debut book. Deepa Malik will offer insights into her Olympic journey, while Rajesh Patil will share his inspiring journey from a farm worker to an IAS officer. Renowned figures such as doctor-author Abraham Verghese and author Upamanyu Chatterjee will present their latest works.
The event will also honor iconic figures like Soumitra Chatterjee and feature sessions with prominent Bengali authors. Attendees can enjoy performances including Shabana Azmi in a Girish Karnad play, musical performances by Harpreet, and a classical recital by Pandit Omkar Dadarkar. With its diverse offerings, the meet promises to be an engaging experience for literature and art enthusiasts alike.
