Kolkata enjoys an evening of classical music
The chilly Sunday evening saw the city treated to the 4th Winter Musical Concert, hosted by the Calcutta School of Music. A celebration of music, artistry, and the institution’s rich legacy, the event drew music lovers and enthusiasts from all corners of Kolkata. An alumna of the institution and a renowned pianist, Asha Santwan teamed up with cellist Anup Biswas, to enthrall the audience with a beautiful mix of classical and emotive pieces performed on cello and piano.
Talking about the concert, Jyotishka Dasgupta, the president of the Calcutta School of Music, said, “Our students were excited to listen to the cello, as the city lacks prominent cellists. They are familiar with the violin, but this was something new to them. Following the concert, Asha had the honour of unveiling the new classrooms at the institution, marking a significant milestone for the school. These new facilities were developed to address the school’s space crunch and support its growth, ensuring a brighter future for aspiring musicians.
