The United Kingdom has brought a trade delegation focussing on Sustainable & Digital Construction to Kolkata on March 21, 2024. This tech delegation comprises 6 leading UK organisations, all of which are at the forefront of technological innovation in areas like digital construction, sustainable construction technologies, air pollution, project management and green architecture.

The UK’s primary objective for bringing this trade mission is to explore business opportunities in West Bengal and eastern India. They aim to forge strategic partnerships between the UK companies and Indian stakeholders in these rapidly growing sectors. The visit will provide a platform for the UK businesses to engage with regional governments and industry leaders, creating potential for collaboration in areas of sustainable built environment.

Dr. Andrew Fleming, the British Deputy High Commissioner to East and North-East India spoke about the delegation and said, “I am delighted to welcome a trade delegation from the UK focused exclusively on the sustainable built environment sector. This visit underscores the growing relationship between the UK and India in the construction and infrastructure space and specifically the existing & emerging opportunities in East & Northeast India. I believe interactions with state governments and industry will foster new partnerships and strengthen our collaboration, especially in developing digital and sustainable solutions.” To this, Julie Godefroy, Built Environment Sustainability Specialist of UK Government’s Department for Business & Trade, and the Mission Leader added and said, “I am very pleased to take part in this trade mission, with companies which showcase so well what the UK can offer for a low carbon and healthy built environment, from small innovative players to large well-established companies of global influence. The Indian government is committed to promoting sustainable development, which along with the rapid growth of its economy creates significant opportunities for UK firms. I look forward to our meetings with companies in West Bengal, and to the opportunities this mission will lead to.”
