Chiefs' wide receiver Marquise Hollywood Brown hints at his possible return this season after undergoing surgery
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a one-year deal in the offseason, but he hasn't played a snap for them. Brown was diagnosed with a sternoclavicular injury before the 2024 season opener and was placed on injured reserve. Initially, he was expected to miss months or the entire season, but he refused to provide a timeline and posted a message on social media.
Marquise Hollywood Brown might soon return to playThe Kansas City Chiefs, starting the 2024 season 9-1, are without their best wide receiver, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown. Brown, signed to a one-year contract worth up to $11 million, has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals. However, he has not yet appeared on the field in the regular season due to dislocation in Week 1.
Brown underwent surgery to repair his injured shoulder and was placed on injured reserve. "Disappointed, frustrated, and Sad was the first wave of emotions once I realized I would need surgery but that only lasted a day or so because Of my Faith in God," Brown wrote on Twitter. "Knowing that this to shall pass, no matter the great opportunity I had in front of me. It's not over and that's not the path God wanted for me and I'm perfectly fine with that now.”
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Chiefs"haven't totally ruled out a return for Hollywood Brown (shoulder) at some point." He continued, "Kansas City coaches have been checking in with him, and the picture should become more clear over the next three to four weeks." On Tuesday afternoon, Brown added fuel to Fowler's fiery report and posted the alarm clock emoji on Twitter without any context.
The Chiefs are indeed eagerly waiting for the return of Brown due to their lack of wide receiver production this season, with Rashee Rice out, JuJu Smith-Schuster over, and Xavier Worthy struggling. They signed another former Patriots second-round pick Tyquan Thornton to their practice squad, the signing that will, hopefully, benefit them in their wide receiver position.

If Brown returns before the end of the season, that gives the Chiefs a lot more depth at the wide receiver position. They can surely use him as at least Rashee Rice is going to be out for the year. After losing their first game of the season to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, the Chiefs are headed to Carolina to take on the Panthers this coming weekend.
