Google is preparing to enhance the capabilities of its Gemini AI. The tech giant is soon expected to allow users to interact with " Gemini Live " AI assistants and edit files conversationally. This new feature builds upon the existing functionality that allows Gemini Advanced users to upload and have the AI modify or summarise various file types, including text documents and spreadsheets. This rumoured advancement is likely to offer users a more intuitive and interactive way of working with AI for tasks involving document editing and analysis.

Currently, Gemini Advanced users can upload and interact with files directly within the Gemini interface. However, an analysis of the Google app beta version 15.45.33.ve.arm64 by Android Authority has revealed new code suggesting that "Gemini Live" will soon be able to access and interact with user files.

The code string reads:

Open Live
Talk about attachment
Open Live with attachment

Starting Conversation Mode with empty attachments, but expected attachments to be present.

How this Gemini AI file editing feature may work

The report claims that the evidence suggests that Google is working on integrating Gemini with Gemini Live for improved file handling. The AI assistant is expected to be able to recognise file uploads and recommend using Gemini Live for a more interactive and contextual experience.

While this feature is not yet live, code analysis has revealed strings hinting at its development, including error-handling messages related to file processing in Gemini Live.

With this integration, Google wants to use Gemini Live's conversational nature for enhanced file manipulation and analysis. However, the exact functionality remains to be seen as the feature is still under development.
