In a candid Instagram post, that is now making rounds on the internet, Shetty shared what it was like working for the world’s wealthiest man, from the pressure of Musk's "no bulls**t" leadership to the surprising ways he made employees feel valued. Musk's ambition, passion, and devotion to sustainability were palpable, making him not just a boss, but a leader with a vision that changed the world.

Saiman Shetty’s early days at Tesla Motor

A former Tesla employee, Saiman Shetty, recently shared his experience of working with Elon Musk at the world’s largest electric vehicle company. Shetty, who joined Tesla back when it was still named Tesla Motors, described Musk as a no-nonsense boss who still made his employees feel valued and appreciated.

In an Instagram post, Shetty, an Indian-origin techie , provided insights into his time at Tesla, including his interactions with the world’s richest man. He joined the company in January 2016, a year before it rebranded to Tesla to reflect its expanded focus beyond just electric vehicles. In his post, Shetty shared, “I joined Tesla when it was Tesla Motors, and there were only a few of us. We had front-row seats to how Elon Musk transformed the company into what it is today.”

Elon Musk’s no-nonsense leadership

Reflecting on Musk’s leadership style, Shetty highlighted the entrepreneur’s no-nonsense approach, stating, “Elon had a ‘no bulls**t’ attitude, which is crucial when running a company the size of Tesla. He cut through the nonsense, reducing the chances of miscommunication, secrets, and disrespect.” He explained that Musk’s emails were always direct and efficient, respecting both his and his employees’ time.

Despite Musk's tough exterior, Shetty emphasised how the Tesla CEO made his employees feel valued. “During my time at Tesla, Elon never made anyone feel unappreciated. I remember receiving emails at odd hours where he expressed his gratitude and pride for the team,” Shetty recalled. Finally, Shetty described Musk as a “visionary,” noting his relentless work ethic and ambition. “Elon worked nonstop, always striving for more. It’s this passion and commitment to his work that made him a visionary. Sustainability was always at the core of everything he did,” Shetty added.

Shetty left Tesla in 2018 and is now the founder of Smart Green Card, but his time working under Musk clearly left a lasting impression.
