Meghan Markle's next reinvention: From food blogging to launching own Netflix series

Meghan Markle ’s transformation from a casual food blogger to a polished lifestyle figure takes centre stage as she prepares to launch her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan and luxury brand As Ever, Daily Mail reports.

The shift marks a stark contrast from her early days of sharing burger recipes and street food favourites to presenting an elegant, high-end aesthetic.

A decade ago, Meghan’s food content was far removed from the refined image she now promotes. In a 2013 video for Men’s Health, she was seen flipping burgers in denim shorts and an unbuttoned shirt, licking her fingers suggestively. The magazine described her as the “ultimate guys’ girl.” Around the same time, she considered launching a food website with the provocative name Spoon Me, Fork Me before opting for The Tig, a more sophisticated blog focusing on food, fashion, and travel.

For three years, The Tig chronicled her evolving tastes, blending casual food tips with high-end dining experiences. “I am a hamburger-loving fool,” she once wrote, calling a burger and fries her “most craved meal.” Her relationship with Toronto-based chef Cory Vitiello also played a role in expanding her culinary interests, according to royal biographer Omid Scobie. However, the blog was shut down in 2017, coinciding with her engagement to Prince Harry.

Her food interests took a new turn after joining the royal family. Meghan’s first solo project involved championing Together: Our Community Cookbook , featuring recipes from women affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. She praised the Hubb Community Kitchen as a place “for women to laugh, grieve, cry, and cook together.” Reflecting on her own background, she recalled enjoying “collard greens, black-eyed peas, and cornbread” from her grandmother’s kitchen.

Now, Meghan is re-entering the food and lifestyle space with a more refined approach. Her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan focuses on hosting and entertaining rather than traditional cooking. “I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it,” she says in the trailer. The show emphasises attention to detail, featuring perfectly arranged mint leaves and fruit-infused ice cubes.

Her latest rebrand leans heavily into luxury. No longer sharing casual food hacks, Meghan is now presenting herself as a high-end hostess , dressed in Loro Piana cashmere and adorned with Cartier jewellery worth over £200,000. Her new brand, As Ever, formerly American Riviera Orchard, aligns with this aesthetic, though specific details remain under wraps.

The transformation is striking given her previous statements about baking. “There’s something about the technicality of it that stifles my inner rebel,” she once admitted. However, her new show features her baking with friends, reinforcing her ability to reshape her image.
