Bike rider killed in hit-and-run accident near Shirva

Shirva: A 55-year-old bike rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Katapadi-Shirva state highway near Prince Point on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Vijay Shetty, a resident of Indrapura, Shirva. He is survived by his wife and daughter. Shetty, who worked at a wine shop in Belmannu, was on his way home for lunch when the accident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, a vehicle coming from the opposite direction rammed into his bike and sped away. Locals rushed Shetty to a hospital in Udupi, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Shirva police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the vehicle involved in the accident
