In a fresh breakthrough in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case , Meghalaya Police on Tuesday recovered a second machete suspected to have been used in the killing.
The discovery came after the SIT took all the accused, including Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam, to Sohra — about 65 km from Shillong — to recreate the crime scene under heavy security.

East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem stated, “We have conducted a crime scene recreation, during which the accused reenacted their actions."
“This has given us a clearer picture of what transpired. The second machete used in the murder has also been recovered by the SDRF," he said.
Raja Raghuvanshi was brutally hacked to death in a parking lot near Weisawdong Falls, and his body was later dumped into a nearby gorge in the Sohra region of East Khasi Hills on May 23.
Businessman Raja Raghuvanshi was on his honeymoon with wife Sonam Raghuvanshi when he was allegedly murdered by three hired killers — Vishal, Anand, and Akash — reportedly sent by Sonam’s boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, who is also among those arrested.
“Our team is in Indore and questioning a few people. They are trying to find out if somebody has to gain from Raja’s death," Syiem said.
As part of the ongoing investigation into the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, a Meghalaya Police team on Tuesday visited a flat in Indore, where key accused Sonam Raghuvanshi is suspected to have taken shelter while on the run.
“A Meghalaya police team visited the flat in Dewas Naka area…. We have received information that after Raghuvanshi’s murder, his wife Sonam was hiding in this flat for a few days. She later went to Uttar Pradesh, where she was arrested," a local police official told PTI.
The team also stopped by Raghuvanshi’s residence in the Sahakarnagar area, where they recorded statements from his family members.
