This tour marks a significant shift in Indian cricket, with a new generation stepping up to lead the team into the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle. With the legendary trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin having bid farewell to the longest format, the spotlight is now firmly on fresh faces and new leadership.

The players’ responses revealed a delightful peek into their individual personalities.

At the centre of this transition is Shubman Gill , who will be captaining India for the first time in a full Test series. Channeling his batting mindset, he reflected on the essence of English cricket: “A Duke’s ball. That’s number one. The weather always changing, which is exciting and tough. And just the atmosphere of the crowd.”

KL Rahul expressed his love for the English cricketing environment, saying, “England and Test cricket excite me. The sun’s out, the weather is great, and you get so many food options off the field.”

All-rounder Washington Sundar kept things cricket-focused: “Swing and seam. India winning a lot of games over here. Food.”

Other players shared charming and personal associations with England. Sai Sudharsan mentioned, “Weather, hot chocolate and Dukes ,” while pacer Prasidh Krishna added, “Dukes ball, the weather, and just walking around the city with a coffee.”

Karun Nair kept it poetic with, “Character, Test, and culture,” and Yashasvi Jaiswal showed his admiration for English cricket heritage: “Beautiful. Lord’s. Houses.”

Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur offered a relatable sentiment that many travellers share: “Greenery, coffee, and weather. Just sipping coffee on a walk.”

This candid video highlights not just the players’ personalities but also how the new crop of Indian cricketers connects with the culture and spirit of English cricket. As the team gears up for a demanding series, these human moments offer a refreshing contrast to the on-field intensity fans are about to witness.
