Since childhood, Belly has harboured an infatuation with the older Fisher brother, Conrad. But as the story unfolds, marked by devastating events such as Susannah’s illness and emotional upheaval, Belly finds herself entangled in a love triangle with Conrad and his brother Jeremiah. She must ultimately choose between first love and friendship.
The show isn’t just about romance but also explores grief, identity, and growing up, all set against deep family bonds and the fleeting, bittersweet feeling of summer.

, opens with Belly and Jeremiah, four years into their romance, navigating their college life. Belly is convinced that first loves (read Conrad) are important, but it's the last love (Jeremiah) that shapes your future. Basking in the glory of their young love, the duo seems to have their future figured out — until Belly discovers Jeremiah's cheating during a spring break.
She expected heartbreak from Conrad, but Jeremiah was always on her side, and this devastating discovery leads to a heartbreak that only multiplies manyfold after Steven meets with a life-threatening accident. However, following this, Belly begins reevaluating her relationship with Jeremiah, and an impromptu proposal from him fills her with hopes of a better future.
Up until 7 episodes, we see Belly burying herself in her wedding preps and conveniently ignoring Conrad even though they both are in Cousins. And while she's determined to marry Jeremiah, she also faces intimate moments with Conrad that make her almost risk it all.
However, the bachelorette changes it all. After Conrad finds out about Jeremiah cheating on Belly, he confesses his feelings to Belly at the beach, but she rejects him, saying they were never anything despite earlier confiding in her best friend Taylor that all she ever wanted was Conrad.
In episode 8 of
season 3, Belly grapples with Conrad’s confession of love while preparing to marry Jeremiah, only to realise she can’t ignore her true feelings. However, things turn messy after Belly tells Jeremiah about Conrad's confession. Tension explodes between the Fisher brothers after Jeremiah learns the truth and reads a letter from Susannah, leaving him hurt and furious at Conrad.
At the rehearsal, Steven and Taylor try to ground Belly, urging her not to mistake codependency for love. Ultimately, Belly admits to Jeremiah that a part of her will always love Conrad, leading him to call off the wedding.
In the final moments, Belly chooses herself, cancels the marriage, and heads for a new beginning—but finds Conrad at the airport; the future of their relationship hangs in the balance.
