Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Sunday seized music equipment, microphones and additional electronic and electrical items from rapper Honey Singh's concert venue owing to alleged non-payment of entertainment tax.

A team from IMC arrived at the concert premises early Sunday morning and seized possessions comprising sound systems and electronic equipment due to outstanding payments.

The corporation dispatched a notice to the concert organisers demanding remittance of 10 per cent of aggregate ticket revenue as advance entertainment tax to the civic authority.

"On Sunday we seized belongings from the concert venue including microphones, music and sound systems. The organisers have not remitted the complete entertainment tax to IMC, prompting this enforcement action. The organisers have paid Rs 7.75 lakh to IMC. But, they have additional outstanding liability," said an IMC official requesting anonymity.

The IMC notice specified the mandatory requirement to deposit 10 per cent of total ticket sales as advance entertainment tax to the civic body.

Official sources indicated the pending entertainment tax amount is estimated to be Rs 50 lakh.
