With total sales of 7,62,052 units, including 5,98,666 domestic sales and 1,63,386 exports, the company continues to dominate the Indian automotive market. SUVs Continue to Drive Hyundai’s Success
Hyundai’s success in the Indian market is largely driven by its robust SUV portfolio, which contributed 68.5% of its total domestic sales in FY24-25. The Hyundai Creta emerged as the best-selling SUV in India during the January-March quarter, with 52,898 units sold, reaffirming its dominance in the segment. Over the years, the Creta has built a strong reputation for its feature-rich offerings, reliability, and widespread appeal. Hyundai also crossed major milestones this year, surpassing 2.5 million cumulative SUV sales and over 1.5 million Creta sales in both domestic and export markets since the model’s launch.

Hyundai’s Expanding Line-up and Future Outlook
Hyundai is steadily expanding its portfolio to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers. The launch of the Hyundai Creta Electric, the brand’s first locally manufactured electric vehicle, marks a significant step towards sustainable mobility. Additionally, the introduction of the bold new Hyundai Alcazar has further strengthened Hyundai’s SUV lineup, offering buyers more choices within the premium segment.

Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), expressed his gratitude towards the brand’s loyal customer base. He stated, “Solidifying our position further in India, HMIL continued its rein as the second largest passenger vehicle OEM in FY 24-25, thanks to the unparalleled trust of our customers on brand Hyundai. Our versatile SUV line-up grew stronger this financial year with the launch of the Hyundai CRETA Electric - our first indigenous EV and also the bold new Hyundai ALCAZAR. India’s favourite SUV, the new Hyundai CRETA continues to build on its popularity, by becoming India’s No.1 SUV with sales of 52,898 units in the Jan-Mar quarter of FY 24-25. HMIL further set industry benchmarks by surpassing the milestone of 2.5 Million SUV sales and 1.5 Million CRETA sales since inception (domestic + exports).”

Hyundai’s Strength in the Export Market
Apart from its domestic success, Hyundai remains a strong player in India’s vehicle export sector. With 1,63,386 units shipped overseas in FY24-25, the company continues to be India’s top exporter of passenger vehicles. Hyundai’s global strategy focuses on expanding its footprint in key international markets while ensuring that its Indian manufacturing facilities cater to both domestic and export demands efficiently.

The Road Ahead for Hyundai in India
Hyundai’s strategy for the coming years includes a deeper push into the electric and hybrid vehicle space, given the growing emphasis on sustainability. The success of the Hyundai Creta Electric is expected to pave the way for more electric models in the future. Furthermore, the company is likely to introduce advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and other cutting-edge technologies to enhance the driving experience.

Hyundai’s consistent growth and ability to adapt to shifting market trends reinforce its stronghold in the Indian automobile industry. With a customer-centric approach, a diverse portfolio, and an expanding presence in the EV sector, Hyundai is well-positioned to maintain its strong market presence in the years ahead.
