Yogi Government's e-RUPEE Voucher Scheme: A Lifeline For Pregnant Women In Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step to improve maternal healthcare by introducing the e-RUPEE voucher scheme , providing pregnant women access to diagnostic services . Under this initiative, more than 14.5 lakh vouchers have been issued, enabling beneficiaries to avail crucial services like ultrasounds at private healthcare centers.
Leading Districts in Voucher Distribution
As per the latest data, Azamgarh tops the list with over 61,000 vouchers issued, followed by Agra (56,000) and Badaun (53,000). Other high-performing districts include Prayagraj and Deoria. On the lower end, districts like Kasganj (4,352), Bhadohi (4,876), and Shamli (5,749) saw fewer vouchers issued.
Of the 14.5 lakh vouchers distributed, 6.81 lakh vouchers have already been utilized, providing much-needed support to pregnant women who often struggle with the financial burden of healthcare services. This scheme has proven instrumental in improving both accessibility and efficiency in healthcare delivery.
Government's Objective
According to Dr. Pinky Jowal, Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), the initiative reflects Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's commitment to maternal and child health. The scheme aims to ensure timely diagnostic services, enhance transparency in healthcare delivery, and prioritize the well-being of women across the state.

Dr. Jowal also highlighted the advantages of the scheme's fully digital nature, stating that it guarantees direct benefits to the targeted beneficiaries while eliminating corruption. By making healthcare more efficient, transparent, and accessible, the e-RUPEE voucher scheme has become a model for promoting women’s health and ensuring equitable access to medical care.
