VIDEO: Over 10,000 Punekars Bring Home New Vehicles On Gudi Padwa

Over 10,000 Punekars brought new vehicles to their homes on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa. The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) registered a total of 10,170 vehicle registrations between March 20 and 28, the week leading up to Gudi Padwa. This marks a 39% increase compared to 2024 when 7,336 vehicles were registered during the same period.

Among those registered vehicles this year, 6,510 were motorcycles, 2,424 cars, 283 auto-rickshaws, 517 goods carriers, 234 tourist taxis, 68 buses and 134 other vehicles. Last year, 4,221 motorcycles, 2,326 cars, 257 auto-rickshaws, 245 goods carriers, 190 tourist taxis, 54 buses and 52 other vehicles were registered during this period.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Swapnil Bhosale, Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Pune, expressed, "Gudi Padwa is an auspicious festival for citizens. To make it more special, people book their vehicles earlier. 10,170 vehicles were booked in the week before Gudi Padwa. We geared up the process to deliver their vehicles on time.
